Nicolas Raskin is expected to leave Ibrox this summer as Philippe Clement ignored him once more, despite Rangers‘ injury issues. Mohammed Diomande and Ryan Jack were both out from the squad for the 3-2 loss against Ross County due to injuries, leaving Raskin and John Lundstram as the only fit natural center midfielders available to manager.

However, despite being first-choice in midfield upon Clement’s arrival earlier this season, Raskin’s standing in the squad has dipped substantially, and he was once again left out of the team, with Kieran Dowell taking his place. Raskin has also been benched at times this season, with natural full-back Dujon Sterling and natural striker Tom Lawrence serving as substitutes. Nicolas Raskin to leave the Rangers? Since February, the 23-year-old has made only two starts, which will definitely not satisfy his desire for regular football.

One of those came in a 2-0 Scottish Cup win against Ayr, while his most recent came a month later in a 2-1 loss to Motherwell at Ibrox, when he was substituted at halftime. Raskin has made only three appearances after that replacement, all off the bench, for a total of 21 minutes of action (via WhoScored)

With the summer transfer market approaching, the club will undoubtedly be looking to add to its midfield, since Ryan Jack and John Lundstram are both out of contract. However, it appears that Raskin may also want to move on.

He is now too old to play for Belgium’s Under-21 squad, and with the European Championships coming up this summer, he had a great opportunity this season to push his claim for the national team. After a dismal season in Scotland, he is no longer on anyone’s radar.

If he isn’t in Clement’s plans, which he doesn’t appear to be given his lack of involvement in recent months, the club may want to cash in and utilize the money to strengthen the squad elsewhere. Raskin was a fan favourite when Michael Beale first brought him in, but his stock has dropped, and an exit from Ibrox now appears likely.
