Will Dele Alli return to play for Everton? ‘Complicated scenario’ revealed following the latest injury update.

What happened?

Sean Dyche’s most recent injury update suggested that Dele, who is recovering from surgery for a recurrent groyne problem, is making “progress” in terms of fitness. Some interpreted this as a hint that the 27-year-old could feature in matchday plans before the 2023-24 season ends.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Dele, on the other hand, has not played a competitive game since February 2023, during a miserable loan spell at Turkish club Besiktas, and is poised to leave Everton this summer without adding to his 13 appearances.

WHAT DOCTOR SAYS ABOUT DELE DrWill Dele Alli return to play for Everton? 'Complicated scenario' revealed following the latest injury update.

Rajpal Brar, an expert in physical rehabilitation and sports science, informed Goodison News about Dele’s difficulties in returning to the pitch: “Based on what Dyche has said and recent reports, progress here could just be that he is reacting well to physiotherapy, no matter how low or high the intensity. Given how long he’s been out and how conservative the club has been with him, I’d be very shocked if he returns this season. It is a tricky situation, and his lack of match fitness has not helped matters.”

WHAT’S NEXT FOR DELE?

In 2024, Dele will face yet another critical career decision. After dealing with troubles both on and off the pitch recently, the former England international faces a difficult decision on what to do next, with some speculating that he may need to drop down a tier or two to rekindle a spark and regain lost form.
