AC Milan was knocked out of the Europa League after losing to Italian rivals Roma.

 

 

 

Afterwards, the club’s Ultras confronted the players in the stadium.

Stefano Pioli’s team were eliminated from the competition after a 2-1 second leg loss to Roma on Thursday night, with the tie ending 3-1 on aggregate for their league rivals.

 

 

 

It was the Rossoneri’s third encounter without a win, and with the Milan derby looming, their fans made their dissatisfaction known.

Following the match in the Stadio Olimpico, the AC Milan players approached the travelling fans and were challenged by the club’s ultras.

 

 

 

The crowd addressed the players and staff, venting their dissatisfaction following Milan’s goalless evening.

After the match, away supporters reportedly chanted ‘grow some balls’ at Milan players.

The Italian giants will play their next encounter against Inter Milan on Monday night before traveling to Juventus on Sunday.

Currently, Pioli’s squad is second in the Serie A table, 14 points behind Inter but six points ahead of the Old Lady.

 

 

 

Gianluca Mancini and Paulo Dybala scored for Daniele De Rossi’s side on the night, with Matteo Gabbia adding a late consolation goal.

Dybala’s effort was the pick of the bunch, as he curled a left-footed effort into the far corner of the net to give his side breathing space in the match.

Meanwhile, it was Mancini’s second goal of the tie, having scored at the San Siro to hand his side an advantage heading into the return leg.

Milan will now face the tough test of facing league leaders and rivals Inter Milan

Meanwhile, Roma will now face Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League semi-finals.

Milan was beaten to a 3-3 tie with Sassuolo between Europa League quarter-finals and will try to win again against Inter.

English clubs Liverpool and West Ham were eliminated from the competition after losing 3-1 to Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen, respectively.
