Fans are blown away by CJ Stroud’s baseball pitching technique.
CJ Stroud demonstrated during his amazing rookie season last year that he can make every throw at the NFL level, but the Houston Texans quarterback is no Bo Jackson. Stroud threw out the Houston Astros’ ceremonial first pitch before their game against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night. A video of the former Ohio State standout warming up for the pitch went viral, thanks in large part to Stroud’s short-arming of the ball.
It appeared that Stroud was throwing a baseball the same way he would a football, which makes perfect sense. You can see he wasn’t a two-sport athlete in high school like Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and other quarterbacks. For what it’s worth, the throwing motion worked perfectly for Stroud. He delivered a fantastic strike.
Stroud was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year and made the Pro Bowl last season. He passed for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns, with only 5 interceptions. We know another star quarterback has big baseball dreams, but Stroud will probably stick to throwing a ceremonial first pitch every now and then. Texans supporters should be quite pleased with that.
