Sources: Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley unlikely to be franchise tagged
In what looks to be a star-studded running back market, Josh Jacobs, Saquon Barkley, and Tony Pollard are all anticipated to become free agents, sources told ESPN on Monday.

Although league sources told ESPN that the Raiders will try to re-sign Jacobs, they do not anticipate tagging him given that his franchise tag is $14,149,200.

According to sources who spoke with ESPN, the New York Giants will talk to Barkley and look into a deal with him, but they do not plan to tag him for $12,109,200.

Sources tell ESPN that the Dallas Cowboys are not anticipated to sign Pollard for the same $12,109,200 price tag.

League sources tell ESPN that Austin Ekeler is anticipated to explore free agency with the Los Angeles Chargers, and that the Tennessee Titans would not tag outstanding veteran Derrick Henry.

Next month, D’Andre Swift, AJ Dillon, Devin Singletary, Zack Moss, J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Ezekiel Elliott, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are among the other running backs who are expected to become free agents.

This entire situation creates an offseason that is markedly different from 2023, when three running backs (Jacobs, Barkley, and Pollard) were all given franchise tags.

It looks that no running backs will be tagged this offseason, making this one of the best and deepest running back classes in free agency history—if not the greatest and most accomplished class ever.
