A Milan loanee was hospitalized following a boot to the face sustained during Almeria’s match against Celta Vigo.
Luka Romero, a teenage player for Almeria, was taken out on a stretcher just before halftime on Friday night after suffering a terrible injury during their 1-0 loss to Celta Vigo.
After signing on loan from Milan in January, the player was forced to leave after his boot struck Romeo in the face during a 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid during a sliding challenge by teammate Marc Pubill. Romero was on the ground when his studs hit him in the cheek, making it impossible for him to dodge the challenge.
Romero received care for a few minutes before being taken to the hospital on a stretcher wearing a neck brace. Although a dislocated jaw has been suggested by multiple outlets, no official diagnosis has been made.
In an attempt to win a La Liga game this season, Almeria went on to lose the match without Romero and may be without the youthful talent for a substantial portion of their remaining 11 games.
