SAD NEWS: McGregor will not play against Hearts due to an Achilles injury.

Callum McGregor may be out for Celtic’s match against Hearts this weekend due to an injury sustained during their 7-1 victory over Dundee.

During the midweek match, the skipper felt a niggle in his calf and Achilles. He was replaced at halftime.

With ten games left, the Hoops trail Rangers by two points, and as the title race heats up, they take their place at Tynecastle on Sunday.

By the time the Saturday match in Edinburgh gets underway, it might be five points instead because the Ibrox team is playing Motherwell.

McGregor has been a constant in the team, participating in every league game this season and making 36 appearances in all competitions.SAD NEWS: McGregor will not play against Hearts due to an Achilles injury.

Therefore, it might be considered a serious setback to Brendan Rodgers’ preparations against the team ranked third if he does miss the game.

The Scotland midfielder will undergo another evaluation prior to a decision being made, the Celtic boss stated in a statement to the media on Friday, confirming the news.

“We just have to assess that and see where he is at over the next 24 hours,” the man stated. “Callum came off at half-time during the week. He felt his Achilles a little bit and his calf. I know from speaking with him that at this time of the year he normally does feel it a little bit because he obviously plays so much.”

“The guys are in good health and spirits, so we are ready for the weekend,” the rest of the group said.

The Premiership winners destroyed Dundee on Wednesday, showing maybe their greatest play of the year thus far with six goals in the first half.

In their encounter with Hearts, who defeated them at Celtic Park in December and have only lost once in their previous 14 games but have lost their past two, their supporters will be hoping for more of the season.
