The All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks was thankfully spared a catastrophic knee injury.

Coach of the Knicks Tom Thibodeau informed the media that Brunson had a knee contusion and that the results of his X-ray were negative, validating the initial diagnosis made by Dr. Brian Sutterer.

“It appears as though someone has a temporary footdrop,” Dr. Sutterer stated on his YouTube channel after re-watching Brunson’s inability to walk off the court following his knee colliding with Isaac Okoro of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

A famous sports medicine physician named Dr. Sutterer compared Brunson’s initial response to a martial artist “who received low calf kicks that injured or stunned the peroneal nerve that picks your ankle up.”

Dr. Sutterer’s assumption that Brunson had suffered a contact blow to the outside of his left knee was supported by the fact that Brunson was unable to bring up his ankle as he exited the floor.

Because that’s where the nerve is located, Dr. Sutterer remarked, “you could have been stunned almost like hitting your funny bone.”

“It doesn’t seem like the alarming things we’ll typically see when a big major non-contact injury like an ACL, a quad patella, or a tendon rupture occurs,” he continued.Sports Doctor Breaks Down Knicks Star Jalen Brunson’s Injury

The similar injury happened to retired NBA player Andre Iguodala in the 2018 Golden State Warriors championship run. Six games were lost by him: the first two games of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the final four games of the Western Conference Finals against the Houston Rockets.

There are 21 games left in the regular season for the Knicks.

Teammates of Jalen Brunson Respond to His Injuries

For their anxious supporters, Josh Hart eased the situation when he lifted the Knicks after Jordan Brunson went down in the first minutes of their thrilling 107-98 victory over the Cavaliers, the No. 2 seed.

Through Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, Hart jokingly stated, “Jalen decided he didn’t want to play.”

Donte DiVincenzo scored 28 points, while Hart finished with a triple-double of 13 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists as they filled the large gap left by their Villanova colleague.

I enquired as to his well-being. He said, “It’ll be alright.” And to me, that’s everything,” DiVincenzo stated to the press. As I mentioned the previous time he fell, Jalen is not a concern for me. He’s among the league’s hardest guys. I really have no idea, so whatever it is, I don’t know. Whatever the case, he will overcome it. He is extremely resilient.

Julius Randle Advances to Drills with Light Contact

According to Newsday’s Steve Popper, Julius Randle, OG Anunoby (who had elbow surgery), and Mitchell Robinson (who had ankle surgery) all traveled and took part in the morning shootaround.

“Just the next step now that they’re playing more basketball,” according to Newsday, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau. “Everyone three of them.” Working on the court is [Randle]. He is working out in the gym. Things such as that… He has made a little bit of touch [with pads], but not with a player as of yet. So that will be the next action.

Randle was seen lifting shots during the pregame of the Knicks’ decisive victory over the Cavaliers on ESPN.
