Vonn Bell is returning to the Bengals to complete the job he began there.
Vonn Bell, a safety with the Cincinnati Bengals, left the organization in free agency to join the Carolina Panthers, but he continued to follow the team.
Bell informed fans at Paycor Stadium that he’s back to complete what he started after re-signing with the Bengals.
“I continued to stare at it.” Every game was something I was watching. without a doubt watching every game. Bell refers to the Bengals as “home” and doesn’t seem overjoyed about being cut by a 2-15 squad.
The most important thing to remember from his press conference, though, was that the seasoned safety kept a watch on the Bengals despite the situation in Carolina, and he was back to enforce a zero-tolerance policy on the communication problems that caused the club to collapse in explosive allowances the previous season.
It will be some time before we find out how Lou Anarumo uses his safety net in the upcoming season. Jordan Battle is still a bright young player, while new addition Geno Stone is more of a rangy back-end playmaker similar to Dax Hill who might move around to other areas.
However, as we emphasize in our study of the reunion, for a unit that needs the seasoned leadership, Bell’s simple presence and capacity to transmit schematic elements and make calls in real time are more crucial than the creation of stat sheets.
