‘I wonder’: Marc Priestley explains the ‘risk’ Max Verstappen must consider by remaining with Red Bull rather than Mercedes.

In the wake of Max Verstappen‘s dominant performance in the 2022 Formula One season and his back-to-back world championships, the question of whether he should consider leaving Red Bull Racing for Mercedes has become a hot topic in the racing world. F1 analyst Marc Priestley has recently weighed in on the situation, expressing his concerns about the “risk” that Verstappen may face if he stays with Red Bull.

In a recent interview, Priestley stated, “Max is at the top of his game right now, and I think he needs to consider carefully whether he wants to continue with Red Bull or move on to a new challenge.

The risk is that if he stays with Red Bull, he may become too comfortable and complacent, and he may not have the motivation to push himself to the next level.”

Priestley went on to compare Verstappen’s situation to that of Lewis Hamilton, who has enjoyed a successful partnership with Mercedes over the years but has recently faced challenges from other top drivers like Verstappen himself.'I wonder': Marc Priestley explains the 'risk' Max Verstappen must consider by remaining with Red Bull rather than Mercedes.

“Lewis has had a great run with Mercedes, but he’s starting to see the limits of what he can achieve with the team,” Priestley said. “I think Max needs to ask himself whether he wants to take a similar path and potentially miss out on opportunities to grow and challenge himself. Mercedes could offer him a fresh perspective and a new set of challenges.”
