GREAT NEWS: Steelers are actively looking to recruit another WR to replace Diontae Johnson.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers dealt receiver Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers last month, they filled a need by bringing back cornerback Donte Jackson in exchange.

The problem, however, is that they left another gap at WR, which they are desperately attempting to fill, according to Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post.

This offseason, Pittsburgh signed Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins, but neither fit the criteria for the No. 2 receiving position that Johnson held in 2023.

When free agency began last month, the Steelers expressed mutual interest in former Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd, but their offer did not pique his interest, according to The Athletic.

It was also rumored that the Steelers considered dealing for San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk, though the 49ers appear to be set on keeping him. Tee Higgins, a Bengals receiver, demanded a trade the day he was franchise-tagged, but the team is unlikely to sell him to a division opponent.

Going receiver with the 20th pick in the draft is also an option. The Steelers have previously met with Texas’ Adonai Mitchell, who could be chosen between 20 and 30.GREAT NEWS: Steelers are actively looking to recruit another WR to replace Diontae Johnson.

Boyd stands out among free-agent wide receivers as a man who can step directly into Johnson’s vacated spot alongside George Pickens and compensate for Johnson’s 51 receptions, 717 yards, and five touchdowns last season.

Other unsigned receivers include Odell Beckham Jr., Hunter Renfrow, Michael Thomas, and D.J. Chark.
