GREAT NEWS: Broncos Legends celebrate Adam Reynolds’ unexpected short-term replacement.

In light of Reece Walsh’s impending return and Adam Reynolds’ hamstring injury, Broncos legend Gorden “Raging Bull” Tallis has advised Brisbane coach Kevin Walters to use dynamic player Tristan Sailor in the halves of the upcoming Queensland derby against the Dolphins.

Reynolds’s hamstring tear looks to have a better prognosis than first anticipated, and his absence should just be a few weeks. Son of legendary winger Wendell Sailor, Sailor needs a spot, and Tallis thinks that spot should go to Ezra Mam, another rising talent.

A guy like Sailor would probably be begging for a roster spot on many NRL sides, especially given his ability to fill several positions. When Adam Reynolds and Reece Walsh rejoin the club, it will be difficult to determine Tristan’s primary role.

The Broncos are weighing their choices ahead of their crucial round six matchup at Suncorp Stadium against the top-seeded Dolphins, with Jock Madden seeming to be the front-runner.

Conversations over Sailor’s possible participation in the halves alongside Mam have been triggered by his adaptability and recent performances, especially when Walsh was not playing fullback.

After Brisbane’s most recent close loss to the Melbourne Storm, Gorden Tallis said, via News Corp, “If Reece Walsh is fit, Tristan Sailor could be a fantastic option in the halves.”

Walters claims that Sailor’s outstanding preseason form and versatility—he can play halfback and five-eighth—have elevated him to the prospect of a regular spot in the top 17.

The Broncos can try calling up Madden, who replaced Reynolds in the past, or rearrange the backfield to make room for Sailor in the halves. If Walsh isn’t ready to go back, they might even try shifting Selwyn Cobbo to fullback and inserting veteran Corey Oates on the wing.

While Matty Johns, a former player for the NSW Blues and Newcastle Knights, concurs that Sailor has great potential, he bemoaned the fact that Ezra Mam is a five-eighth rather than a halfback who can control the game.

“Jock Madden is a good young player, I think he will come into the side,” Johns said.

“I just think with Ezra, the logical thing is to move him to seven, but it would affect his game steering the side around the park. I think they will go with a specialist halfback in Jock Madden,” Johns continued.GREAT NEWS: Broncos Legends celebrate Adam Reynolds' unexpected short-term replacement.

“Tristan is the ultimate team player,” Wendell Sailor noted, further pushing a potential ‘havoc-wreaking’ partnership with Mam.

Kevin Walters also faces defensive challenges, with the Storm racking up 34 points against the Broncos in Round 5.
