The highest-paid center in the NRL will be a Penrith star.

Izack Tago, a center, and the Penrith Panthers have allegedly reached an agreement on a new deal that will keep Tago with the team through the end of the 2028 campaign.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the club upgraded his contract, extending his employment for a another three seasons. He was originally set to expire at the end of the 2025 season.

Before the World Club Challenge match against the Wigan Warriors in England, it is understood that the club contacted his agent. As a result of the agreement, he will receive a $3 million salary, or $750,000 every season.

The two-time NRL championship winner would become one of the highest-paid centers in the league with this massive deal, which pays more than Bradman Best did when he re-signed with the Newcastle Knights earlier this year.

He is a junior at Saint Marys Saints, and since Ivan Cleary gave him his NRL debut in 2021 against the Wests Tigers, he has become quite the star. It didn’t take him long to solidify his place on the squad, even though it may not have happened at the time.

As promised, Tago informed Zero Tackle last season that if given the chance, he would always pick to play for the Panthers.

Tago declared, “Penrith is everything to me; it’s home.”

“I think a big part of our culture here is that we’re a homegrown club, and the majority of our players are juniors who came up through Penrith,” the author said.

It’s a place where everyone feels at home, and we make an effort to support the fans.

“I would always choose to stay if I had the option.”

With Taylan May, Sunia Turuva, and Mitch Kenny’s contracts expiring at the end of the campaign, the Penrith Panthers will now concentrate on re-signing the three.
