DONE DEAL: The Dallas Cowboys have signed an aggressive player, Carl Lawson, to replace Sam Williams.

The Dallas Cowboys have made a daring move by signing Carl Lawson, an aggressive edge rusher known for his hard-hitting technique and relentless pursuit of the quarterback.

The signing is a direct response to Sam Williams’ underwhelming performance since joining the squad as a second-round pick in 2023.

Lawson, who has previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Jets, provides extensive experience and a track record of success to the Cowboys’ defense.

With the addition of Lawson to the Cowboys’ roster, the team is hoping to add a much-needed spark to their pass rush, which has struggled to generate consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks in recent weeks.DONE DEAL: The Dallas Cowboys have signed an aggressive player, Carl Lawson, to replace Sam Williams.

“Carl Lawson is a talented and aggressive player who brings a physical presence to our defense,” Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said in a statement. “We believe he can make an immediate impact and help us get to the next level.”

Meanwhile, Lawson’s deal indicates a growing unhappiness inside the Cowboys organization with Williams’ failure to develop into the premier pass rusher that the franchise had hoped for when they drafted him.

“We have high expectations for our players, and we expect them to rise to the occasion,” Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones said.

“Unfortunately, Sam Williams has not met those expectations, and we felt it was necessary to bring in someone who can help us get back on track.” While Williams has shown signs of promise in limited playing time, his inability to consistently contribute has resulted in his replacement by Lawson.
