Dmitri Arhip, a tight end for the Cardiff Dragons and former Osprey, responded to a propping SOS by signing a short-term contract with THEM.
This season, the 35-year-old Moldovan has been without a club since an Achilles injury ended his tenure at the Arms Park in February 2023. In order to complete his recovery, Arhip has been training with the Dragons recently. He will now join for the United Rugby Championship run-in. Chris Coleman and Luke Yendle will play for the Rodney Parade team tomorrow night against the Bulls in Newport. Arhip will be there for any last-minute fitness problems and will participate in pre-game preparations. The Dragons may decide not to rush the veteran Lloyd Fairbrother back from his calf issue, which might finish his season.
Wales abroad The Dragons have not disclosed the nature of Leon Brown’s injury sustained during the Six Nations opener against Scotland, and Nathan Evans is sidelined due to a concussion.
As a result, Cardiff-based Arhip was brought in by Dai Flanagan, who may now be able to press for a long-term deal. He has been working with us for several months to regain his full fitness, and he is currently in excellent shape and prepared to contribute to the team, according to the head coach. “Dmitri is an excellent role model and professional who has long been one of the URC’s top scrumping props.
“We will benefit greatly from his extensive experience during this period where we are short on front row seats.” Before agreeing to a lucrative contract with Montpellier in 2018, Arhip spent five seasons with the Ospreys, making 91 appearances and developing into a cult legend. Following the failure of that move, he moved to Cardiff, where he appeared in 70 matches for the Blue and Blacks.
