When questioned recently about prospective transfer portal targets this spring, South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer stated that he is dissatisfied with his team’s scholarship numbers at wide receiver and offensive line.

The Gamecocks swiftly added two transfer portal wideouts, Dalevon Campbell (Nevada Wolfpack) and Vandrevius Jacobs (Florida State Seminoles), as they attempted to replenish the receiving room. Earlier this offseason, Carolina lost six receivers to transfer, two to the NFL, and one to graduation. With five transfer portal additions and two freshmen, wide receivers coach Mike Furrey feels much better about the numbers." As of currently, the Gamecocks have not added any offensive lineman this spring. USC welcomed three veteran transfers and three freshmen this winter, but eight lineman left the program via the portal, retirement, or the NFL Draft. As a result of the net loss of scholarship bodies up front on the offensive line, the club is looking to add one or two players to the program.

According to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, two transfer portal linemen will visit Columbia in the coming days. Former Ohio State Buckeyes lineman Enokk Vimahi and former UTEP Miners lineman Steven Hubbard will visit the South Carolina football program next week. Vimahi is a sixth-year senior who was a 4-star prospect and All-American in high school. He started one game for OSU last season (against the Michigan Wolverines) and has spent the majority of his career as a guard.

Hubbard was a multi-year starter at UTEP and made the All-Conference USA team as a left tackle. He is built like an interior lineman and has played both inside and outside. He is now committed to the Vanderbilt Commodores, but it is evident that he is considering other choices. He started his career at Kilgore College, a junior college in Texas.

Adding one or both of Vimahi and/or Hubbard would provide the Gamecocks with much-needed offensive lin

e depth, and depending on how the position battles play out this summer and autumn, any player may push for a prominent role if things go well.
