The 49ers have signed the son of a franchise legend, who will be well-known to fans.
The San Francisco 49ers have signed a player who will be well-known to their fans. On Saturday, the Niners signed Terique Owens as an undrafted free agent. Terique is the son of Terrell Owens, a former 49ers receiver. Terique, like his father, plays wide receiver.
Owens had worked out for the 49ers at their local pro day a few weeks prior (he is from Northern California). Owens has 46 catches for 765 yards and four touchdowns during his three seasons at Missouri State (2021-2023). He stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 200 pounds; he began his career at Florida Atlantic. Owens’ father was a third-round pick by the 49ers in 1996 from Tennessee Chattanooga. T.O. spent eight seasons with San Francisco from 1996 to 2003. During his time with the Niners, he had five seasons over 1,000 yards and twice led the league in touchdown catches. Owens later played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals.
