Cavs declare Donovan Mitchell will not play.
The only thing that playoff and championship contenders want right now in the NBA regular season is to be as healthy as possible because the postseason is quickly approaching.
A club like the Cleveland Cavaliers, who will start the NBA playoffs on April 20, will want to maintain team health in order to maintain their third-seeded position in the Eastern Conference and perhaps move up to second place in the East, possibly overtaking the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Cavaliers announced that standout guard Donovan Mitchell underwent a Platelet-Rich Plasma injection in his left knee, which will keep him out of action for at least three more games. Unfortunately, Mitchell is presently struggling with a bone bruise in his knee.
Mitchell won’t miss a significant amount of time unless there is a problem during the next week or so, despite the fact that this is not ideal for a club that is now fighting the Bucks for the second slot in the conference.
Cleveland hasn’t exactly been playing great basketball lately; after losing to the New York Knicks, who are currently just a few games behind the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference rankings, the team has split its previous ten games (5–5).
Mitchell has averaging 28.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game in 47 games this season. He has shot 37.1% from outside the arc and 47.2% from the field.
In order to maintain their high seed in the East, the Cavaliers will need to get Mitchell back on the court as soon as possible, especially after he had another fantastic season in Cleveland.
