For years, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been the NFL’s example of stability in terms of coaching. Not only has there been the lowest turnover at head coach since Chuck Noll was hired in 1969, but many other jobs on the coaching staff have been given a long leash, for better or ill. However, in recent years, changes among coaches have become increasingly prevalent, whether as a result of some coaches growing elderly and electing to retire or just being let go from the squad. As a result, there are some new faces on the team, including Anthony Midget, who joined recently.

Midget played college ball at Virginia Tech and had a cup of coffee with both the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before transitioning into coaching. He is currently the assistant secondary coach for the Steelers, helping to develop the young defensive backs on the team. In a recent interview with the Vicktory Life YouTube channel, Midget gave some of his initial thoughts on Pittsburgh.

“You think about the Pittsburgh Steelers, you think about what they’re meant for, a great defense. Coach Tomlin, what stability he has there. It’s just been great. And just to be in the city for the short time I’ve been there, the fan base and the way they have that passion for football, there’s no better place to be. A great organization,” Midget stated, giving his thoughts on the Steelers, their fans, and the city of Pittsburgh.

Midget is clearly excited to start working with the club, and he hopes to have a positive impact on the defense. The Steelers are currently rebuilding their secondary, with Minkah Fitzpatrick being the only proven building component at the present. Joey Porter Jr. had a solid rookie season, but he will need to continue to improve in order to provide the Steelers with a true lockdown cornerback.BREAKING: "No Better Place To Be," Anthony Says About Midget Coaching With The Steelers.

The team could also look to select a cornerback early in the 2017 NFL draft, resulting in even more youthful talent on the squad who will need strong coaching to flourish in the league. Cory Trice Jr. has yet to play in the NFL, although his athletic profile indicates potential. Midget’s direction could be critical for some of these young players’ development, and if the team wants to make another run at the Super Bowl, it may need to rely on its defense to get stops and cause turnovers. It appears that the Midget 19th D season is about to begin, so maybe fans can see the fruits of his labor during this forthcoming
