Chicago Bulls reach agreement with former Los Angeles Lakers guard

Nobody expects the Chicago Bulls to contend next season, as they are in full rebuild mode after losing DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso this offseason. It is believed that they would also be interested in parting ways with Zach LaVine, whose name has been continually mentioned in the trade rumor mill. However, nothing meaningful has materialised thus far.

On the other side, it appears that the Bulls have added a former Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz guard to their roster. According to Shams Charania on X, free agent Talen Horton-Tucker has signed to a partially guaranteed contract with the Bulls. Horton-Tucker began his NBA career with the Lakers. In the 21-22 season, he averaged 10.0 points and 25.2 minutes a game for them, starting 19 games.

Horton-Tucker was dealt to Utah in 2022 as part of the Patrick Beverley transaction, and he played the next two seasons with the Jazz. He posted comparable figures in Utah, and his progress has plateaued in recent seasons. He is now 23 years old and on his third team.

Horton-Tucker might be an interesting addition to the Bulls’ squad and a valuable rotational player. He can play both guard positions and is a solid scorer. Of course, there is still opportunity for development on the defensive end of his game, as well as his three-point shooting, which was a career high 33% last season.
