Vikings suspends OC Wes Phillips for three weeks.
Wes Phillips, offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings, was arrested and charged with drunk driving at the end of last season. He ended up pleading guilty to a lesser charge of careless driving and paying a fee to handle his legal concerns, and he is now being reprimanded by the team as well. Phillips has been suspended by the team for three weeks without pay, starting immediately. That means he’ll return to the Twin Cities Orthopaedics Performance Centre in time for the 2024 NFL Draft.
On the surface, this doesn’t seem like a lot. However, he is not being paid during his suspension, which is presumably a substantial issue even for someone in a coordinator’s role. I’m not sure how Phillips’ contract works, but I’m sure this will have a huge toll on his finances. This should conclude the narrative of Phillips’ arrest, and hopefully we will not be writing about it again in the future.
