The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for a defensive back partner for rookie Joey Porter Jr. before the 2024 season. Former Louisville Cardinal Cam’ron Kelly is a potential candidate, according to NFL Insider Tanner Philfer.

 

 

As the Steelers continue to research defensive backs in preparation for the NFL Draft, they have come upon Cam’ron Kelly, a former Louisville Cardinal. According to NFL Insider Tanner Philfer, Kelly is being pursued by the Eagles, Falcons, Cowboys, and Steelers, and he recently spoke with the 49ers by phone.

 

 

 

Kelly began his career at North Carolina, where he recorded 179 total tackles, two tackles for loss, five interceptions, seven passes defended, and one forced fumble. In his final season with the Cardinals, he recorded 70 tackles, five tackles for loss, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.BREAKING NEWS: Steelers add another cornerback on the draft board.

The Steelers acquired Donte Jackson via trade, but the remainder of their cornerback corps is thin, with Patrick Peterson, Levi Wallace, and James Pierre not under contract for the upcoming season. Darius Rush and Porter are not the only cornerbacks that have full-time roster berths. To keep it supplied for 2024, they’ll need to sign at least one, if not more, players at that position.
