BREAKING NEWS:Report: Newcastle is scouting a 22-year-old and won’t mind spending a £12 million cost for him.
As Newcastle United gets ready for a crucial scouting trip this weekend, their hopes for a deal have increased.
According to reports from yesterday, Newcastle had arranged for scouts to visit Argentina in order to observe Kevin Zenon, a midfielder for Boca Juniors who is gaining traction with certain European clubs.
According to a recent report from Ole, Boca Juniors is hoping he would stay until the end of the year, but Newcastle won’t have any trouble paying the £12 million release clause in his contract.
Newcastle has the money to sign a dynamic midfield player.
Following a January window that saw Newcastle only sign 18-year-old Alfie Harrison for an estimated £3.5 million, there were some questions about how much money they would have to spend in the summer.
It’s practically a given that someone will need to be sold to raise money for future transfers, but it’s unclear if that will be a star player or a few of the aging players.
Zenon’s value of just £12 million, though, shouldn’t present a problem for Newcastle, since they will have the money to get the midfield player; the only question is whether or not he wants to go.
Although Zenon only recently joined Boca Juniors in January, he has made an immediate impression on the team, and there are whispers that he will make a major move in the summer. However, the Argentine club wants to negotiate a new deal to remove the release clause.
