BREAKING NEWS: Pittsburgh Steelers disagree on quarterbacks while considering blockbuster moves

The Pittsburgh Steelers are not any closer to figuring out how to get out of their quarterback issue because there is internal conflict inside the team about whether to remain with Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett.

When it comes to their quarterback situation, the Pittsburgh Steelers are a mess. According to reports, the team is undecided about whether to retain Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph or sign a big-time player like Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, Kirk Cousins, or Ryan Tannehill.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Steelers, who started three different quarterbacks last season, are considering trading for or selecting a new quarterback in the draft.

Given that Rudolph won all three of the games he started prior to the postseason defeat to the Buffalo Bills, some members of the organization feel he should be the starting quarterback. Prior to getting hurt, Pickett started most of the games as the starting quarterback; backup Mitch Trubisky also participated.

However, Rudolph may depart after his contract expires, and the Steelers have already bid farewell to Trubisky, leaving them without a quarterback. Chicago Bears quarterback Brandon Fields is a target for them, but they would need to make a deal to get him.

The Bears must choose whether to select Caleb Williams with their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft or to retain Fields and potentially add Marvin Harrison Jr. to their wide receiver group.

Other options include Wilson from the Denver Broncos, who is anticipated to depart his team, and Tannehill or cousins, who are scheduled to become free agents. Considering that Pickett only joined in 2022, it seems doubtful that they will select a new quarterback in the draft.BREAKING NEWS: Pittsburgh Steelers disagree on quarterbacks while considering blockbuster moves

In addition to strengthening their offensive line, the Steelers may need to recruit more players to surround Joey Porter Jr. and Patrick Peterson at cornerback. Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Steelers, has a special admiration for Fields.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter made this revelation on “The Pat McAfee Show”. He declared: “We are aware that the Pittsburgh [Steelers] will get a quarterback of some kind.

“That applies to Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, and Ryan Tannehill, among others. Mike Tomlin is a huge Justin Fields fan. We’ll have that in mind throughout the upcoming weeks and offseason.”

Given that head coach Tomlin, 51, was questioned during the previous campaign, his future may potentially play a role. While the team is co-record holders of Lombardi Trophies, Tomlin hasn’t delivered a Super Bowl to Pittsburgh since the 2008 campaign, and the “standards” of the organization have drawn criticism.

Hines Ward, a former wide receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers, once stated: “Winning Super Bowls is the standard in Pittsburgh. We are quite fortunate.” “We won six Super Bowls in our organization,” he continued. However, we haven’t triumphed recently, so that’s the one thing that [Tomlin] most likely lacks on his list of impressive feats, along with returning Pittsburgh to the Super Bowl.”
