BREAKING NEWS: Paul Gallen was forced to ‘ban a million people’ on social media after receiving ‘ridiculous’ criticism for a straightforward picture.

Paul Gallen, a legend in the NRL, claims he had to ban “a million people” after receiving such intense criticism over a straightforward social media post last week.

Unaware of the controversy that would ensue, the former Cronulla Sharks captain, who is renowned for leading the team to its maiden premiership in 2016, posted a picture of himself having lunch with former prime minister and No. 1 ticket holder Scott Morrison.

“I was shocked to see how many people don’t like ScoMo after posting it on my social media,” Gallen said.

“I blocked a million people, it was absurd, it was crazy.”

“We had a nice day, and it was nice to be with ScoMo.”

The Sharks’ ardent supporter Morrison made headlines last week when he returned the No. 1 ticket holder designation that the team had given him.

In 2016, the year the Sharks gave their long-suffering supporters their first NRL premiership, the former PM received the honorary title while holding the position of treasurer.

However, he chose to reclaim the honorific after declaring his resignation from politics in February, which led to a byelection in his Cook seat.

Mr. Morrison made the well-known statement, “the Sharks have (his) loyalty,” in 2010. However, because of the Robodebt issue, the club was allegedly thinking of removing him from his No. 1 position by 2023.BREAKING NEWS: Paul Gallen was forced to 'ban a million people' on social media after receiving 'ridiculous' criticism for a straightforward picture.

Morrison vehemently disagreed with the royal commission’s conclusions at the time about the disastrous $750 million debt recovery program, calling it a “crude and cruel mechanism” that turned people into “criminals.”

Even though he made the news earlier in the week, the Sharks didn’t officially announce it to the public until Friday, when they play the Bulldogs.

Just before halftime, the PointsBet Stadium ground announcer made the news, causing a notable pause in which spectators assumed Morrison’s replacement would be announced.

“While he was in the house, Scott Morrison was officially no longer the number one Cronulla Sharks ticket golfer,” the announcement was made over the loud speaker at Shark Park. One fan said, “It was brutal,” along with an emoji of laughter.
