Joelinton’s long-term future at Newcastle United is “absolutely priority” for Eddie Howe.

Last month, the head coach of the Magpies acknowledged that Joelinton might have played his final match for United. After thigh surgery, the Brazilian is running out of time to play again this season since his contract expires in the summer.

Although there have been discussions on a new accord, the two sides are still far from reaching a consensus. After Dan Ashworth left St. James’ Park last week, co-owners Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Amanda Staveley, along with CEO Darren Eales, were entrusted with finding a replacement.

And after paying a then-club record £40 million to join from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, Howe is desperate for the 27-year-old to stay on Tyneside.

Howe stated, “I’ve always thought it would be the top priority to try and get him to stay at the club long-term.” “I see that as hugely important.”

When asked who would lead the talks in Ashworth’s absence, Howe responded, “I think it’ll be a mixture of Amanda and Mehrdad and Darren Eales.”BREAKING NEWS: Negotiating a £40 million midfield player deal is Newcastle United's CEO and co-owners' "absolute priority."

In 180 games, Joelinton has contributed 15 assists and 25 goals for Newcastle. Joelinton debuted in Brazil last year.

“We have lost Joe’s physical attributes, particularly his strength, his deftness in a duel, and his ability to set moves for and against… Howe remarked, “I think we’re really fortunate to have a big and competitive midfielder like him.

“I believe you become aware of their absence once you lose those attributes. There aren’t many midfielders like him, and we’ve missed his contributions. He’s a genuinely unique player.”
