BREAKING NEWS: Lakers’ Offseason Star Target Says “Who Knows” in Response to Trade Rumors.
Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young has been the hottest name linked to the Los Angeles Lakers in a planned star pursuit in the offseason.
Young responded to those trade rumors maintaining his commitment to the Hawks but left the door open for a potential trade this summer.
“They’ve never won a championship in Atlanta,” Young stated on Tuesday, March 5 in an interview with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report. “It felt like a match made in heaven, like when I did that and got drafted.” It is my desire to do this. Like this, too, I can overcome the odds.
My entire vision, then, was to be here, as if winning championships were my aim. Bring others here with me so that we can create a dynasty and championship [culture] together. Who knows, though—you may be six now. Who knows? I would like to have it [championship].
By 2022, Young had guided the Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals. They signed former All-Star and All-Defensive guard Dejounte Murray at that time, but they haven’t been able to replicate that success since.
During the trade deadline, the Hawks attempted to disrupt the Murray-Young partnership. However, the package of two first-round picks they desired back for Murray was not found by their new front office, which is headed by general manager Landry Fields.
The Lakers have internal talks about moving for Donovan Mitchell or Young this summer, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, which is one of the main reasons they held out until the trade deadline and preserved their draft capital.
They will be able to pursue a star trade in the summer with three first-round picks, multiple pick swaps, and mid-sized contracts lead by D’Angelo Russell.
Trae Young Might Be able to
NBA insider Marc Stein said the “Trade Trade Watch” has begun, four days after the trade deadline of February 8.
In his Substack email on February 12, Stein stated, “I can tell you this much: They’ve certainly convinced various rival teams that a Dejounte In/Trae Out course is going to be legitimately considered.”
He did, however, emphasize that the Hawks have not yet made a choice. But, if Atlanta decides to go that route, Young will provide them with the large package that might spark a rebuild, out of Murray and him.
For the first time in Young’s six seasons as a Hawk, Stein continued, “there seems to be a true market forming for him. Perhaps the more significant reason why Trae Trade Talk has a more tangible feel than ever before.”
Lakers Star Trade Hints from Kendrick Perkins
A star who is a match made in heaven for Anthony Davis is heading to Los Angeles, according to former NBA champion and ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins, who made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on February 15.
Perkins stated, “The Lakers need to stay on course and win this season.” “Go for it, because this summer another superstar is coming.” I am unable to disclose who it is, but they have faith in my ability to keep this information confidential.
Not only is this superstar a wonderful fit for LeBron James, but Anthony Davis is a match made in heaven.
Young, Davis, and James are all represented by the same agency, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.
