BREAKING NEWS: “I didn’t want to be there,” said the rising Roosters player, whose amazing 30-kg weight loss is expected to earn him $500,000.

The rising star of the Roosters, Terrell May, has shared how he turned his rugby league life around and shed nearly thirty kilograms, making him one of the NRL’s most sought-after props.

Although the 24-year-old is being courted by the Dragons and the Bulldogs with agreements worth more than $500,000 per season, May has a two-year contract offer on the table.

It happens just four years after May left rugby league during the lockout in 2020, having turned down a $1000-a-week train-and-trial contract with the Wests Tigers.

May stated, “It wasn’t because I didn’t like the Tigers; it was just that I didn’t want to train and be there.”

However, while lounging on the couch without a job, he gained more than 135 kg of weight while watching his older brother Tyrone play for Penrith in the 2020 grand final in May.

When his younger brother Taylan began playing for the Panthers the next season, May felt it was time to give the NRL one more shot.

After watching a video of ultramarathon runner David Goggins on YouTube, he joined Manly’s feeder club, the Blacktown Workers, and began running 20 kilometers a day.

“I was seated in my house. Tyrone and Tiny climbed into the bubble. May recently said on the Bloke in a Bar podcast, “Obviously, I couldn’t work because of COVID, so I would just lay around at home and I came across this YouTube video by David Goggins.”

May and a few friends finished a two-day version of Goggins’ 4x4x48 challenge, which entails running four miles (6.43 km) every four hours.

Even after cutting the distance in half, they ran nonstop for 48 hours to reach an amazing 38 kilometers.

May stated, “Let’s say you start at 12, finish your run, go home, and you have to wake up at four in the morning, for two days.”

“And when I was overweight, I did it. I could accomplish anything if I could do that.BREAKING NEWS: "I didn't want to be there," said the rising Roosters player, whose amazing 30-kg weight loss is expected to earn him $500,000.

May lost weight to 110 kg and was rewarded with a 2022 NSW Cup contract with the Storm’s feeder team, the North Sydney Bears.

Trent Robinson, the coach of the Roosters and Melbourne, was closely monitoring his development, and the Tricolours extended an invitation for him to train and try out.

May played against his brother in Round 11 of the NRL just a few months after making his debut due to his impressive performance during the five-week contract.
