BREAKING NEWS: DeMeco Ryans Discloses the Texans’ Offseason Plan.

INDIA — On his second trip to the NFL Combine since taking over as Houston Texans coach, DeMeco Ryans is in a different frame of mind. Ryans was new to the head coaching position in 2023, and he was attempting to determine which quarterback prospect—Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud—would be best for the Texans on his first visit.

In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Texans selected Stroud with the second overall pick and traded for Will Anderson Jr. at the third pick. The Texans laid the groundwork for a promising future as a result of their choice. As he starts to prepare for his second season, Ryans is less anxious. His main goal for 2024 is to “add depth at every position,” using both the draft and free agency.

Ryans stated, “It affects every position group.” “I don’t believe there is a single position group on our team that I can declare, ‘Okay, we’re set.'” I believe that we can improve and become great players in every position group. Although the season wasn’t as good as we had hoped, it still ended well. From that angle, I believe it’s all about finding multiple ways to strengthen and diversify our staff.”

Houston hopes to improve on the 2023 campaign’s achievements. The Texans qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2019 and concluded with a 10-7 record. They progressed to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, where on January 20, they were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens.

It was a “good run” for the Texans, according to Ryans. Nevertheless, in light of the fact that the Texans’ season did not conclude as they had intended, he is concentrated on preparing for 2024 despite their triumph.

Houston is trying to acquire players that play for each other and have the same unwavering mentality as the Texans.

“My approach is that you never stay the same,” Ryans remarked. In terms of coaching and players, you never stay the same during the offseason.BREAKING NEWS: DeMeco Ryans Discloses the Texans' Offseason Plan.

“How can we keep getting better? Players are involved. It’s mentorship. What did we do last year, and how can we do it better? Since you change, how can we also evolve? How can we improve? We are approaching this offseason with the “get better” mentality in that way.”

As a former All-Pro linebacker, Ryans believes that his ability to connect with teammates is one of his strongest qualities. In the second year, he will not alter his strategy. In the aim of assisting the Texans in achieving their overarching objective in 2024, he is eager to get to know the players.
