Keon Coleman: Josh Allen texted me, “You are the guy I want.”

The relationship between quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs was not always nice before the Bills moved Diggs to the Texans this offseason, but things are going well with the team’s newest wideout. Buffalo traded down twice to move out of the first round and into the top choice in the second round, before selecting Keon Coleman to open last Friday night’s proceedings. Coleman stated that his feelings at the end of his visit to the Bills facility before to the draft made him “plan on coming back,” and Allen offered him the kind of welcome that makes it evident that everyone is pleased with how things went early in the draft process.

“He texted me the day of, saying, ‘You’re the guy I want.'” I saw a lot of receivers and I want to play alongside you,” Coleman stated on the team’s website. “And I’ve said the same thing. I want to play with the guy that wears the number 17. I think he’s a fantastic quarterback, one of the greatest in the game right now, and I’d love to catch passes from him. “I’m prepared for that.” The Bills also saw Gabe Davis go as a free agent this offseason, so there will be plenty of opportunity for Coleman to establish his readiness for his new place at the top of the depth chart. Coleman recorded 11 touchdowns at Florida State last season.
