Everton avoids paying Tottenham an additional £10 million for Dele Alli.
Football.Everton will no longer have to pay £10 million to Tottenham for Dele Alli because the midfielder cannot make enough appearances to trigger a provision agreed upon with Tottenham Hotspur. Dele came to Goodison Park on a free transfer in January 2022, but as part of the deal, Everton promised to pay Spurs £10 million if the attacking midfielder made 20 appearances for the club before the completion of his two-and-a-half-year contract.
The contract is going to expire in June, and with Dele still healing from his injury, he will be unable to play 20 games this season.
Tottenham will not earn £10 million for Dele Alli.
Following Everton’s loss at Stamford Bridge yesterday, the Toffees have only six games remaining this season, and with the 27-year-old presently on 13 appearances, he will only reach 19 even if he plays every game until the end. However, The Athletic reported in February that Tottenham would get a bonus from the Toffees if Dele signed a new contract with the Merseyside club.

Opinion Cynics and conspiracy theorists would believe that Everton purposely restricted Dele from playing the specified number of games, especially given their precarious financial situation. However, it is apparent that the midfielder is ailing and unlikely to play this season. Follow SpursWeb’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to get the most recent Tottenham news and opinions.
