Although Dinwiddie was acquired by the Lakers through a buyout, he has had difficulty adjusting to a whole new role and offensive style.
This is not to say that Dinwiddie hasn’t had an impact; in fact, his defense has been strong, and not too long ago, he literally sealed a Lakers victory by blocking Damian Lillard. Even so, Anthony Davis pointed out that the Lakers as a team just want Dinwiddie to continue being aggressive, and it was encouraging to see him make some easy baskets.

However, we also want him to be aggressive when he’s open to shooting, attacking the hoop, finishing, and showing that he’s growing more at ease with the game of basketball
We will thus need more from him than he showed tonight for the remaining 12 games, but as you saw tonight, he is beginning to settle in.
Dinwiddie is playing with the Lakers significantly more off the ball than he has ever played in his career, as he has mentioned. Although playing in a different manner takes some getting accustomed to, D’Angelo Russell has stated that the team is aware that he is more than capable of doing whatever is expected of him.
Russell continued, “He’s still working, still working,” regarding Dinwiddie. It’s obvious that he is playing a new character. He can accomplish anything we ask of him with ease. The league is aware of his abilities, and I promise to support him in this endeavor.
“You arrive here, perhaps expected to perform a particular task, and the league fails to recognize your potential. But good for him for persevering—he’s more than competent.
Dinwiddie will play a significant role in the Lakers’ final push to raise their standings as the season comes to an end, and the team is sure he will perform when necessary.
Spencer Dinwiddie is attempting to get more done with fewer touches with the Lakers.
It is still an adjustment process for Dinwiddie because he is used to having the ball in his hands more than he does with the Lakers. Nonetheless, the seasoned player is striving to use his few touches more effectively.
“Yes, I am attempting to,” Dinwiddie continued. “In general, I believe that I will be able to acquire a few more items here and there as long as I continue to locate my specialty and extras.
“It wasn’t like there was a significant shift in volume, or that I ran twenty to thirty pick-and-rolls or anything.” However, I was happy to have more possessions and made an effort to be as effective as I could, with the hopes that my offensive would be able to equal my defense.
