REPORT: Giant WR/KR Gunner Oszewski will miss time, reportedly due to groin injury.

Gunner Olszewski, a wide receiver/returner for the New York Giants, will be sidelined “for a little while,” according to coach Brian Daboll on Saturday. The groin injury occurred during practice, according to NFL Network. Olszewski, 27, is likely to be out for two to four weeks, according to the reports.

He is listed first on the depth chart for both punt and kick returner, with Isaiah McKenzie the top reserve. McKenzie handled the bulk of the returns on Saturday in the Giants’ 28-10 preseason road loss to the Houston Texans.

The Giants signed Olszewski in October after he was waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He appeared in ten games for the Giants, returning 23 punts for 273 yards (11.9 average), with one touchdown. Olszewski has returned 98 punts for an 11.9-yard average and two touchdowns in 65 games with the New England Patriots (2019-21), Steelers (2022-23), and Giants in parts of five seasons, as well as 41 kickoff returns for a 22-yard average.

In 2020, he was named first-team All-Pro after leading the league in total punt return yards with 346 and a 17.3 average. He also returned a punt for a touchdown. Olszewski, who has made four career starts as wide receiver, has 15 grabs for 180 yards and one touchdown.
