REPORT: Red bull have officially announced the trade of Sergio Perez for $116 million considering a new signing.
Red Bull Racing has traded away star driver Sergio Perez for a reported $116 million. Perez was widely regarded as one of the most talented and popular drivers on the grid, winning three races and earning eight podium finishes in the 2022 season alone.
The decision to trade away Perez was reportedly driven by Red Bull’s desire to secure a new star driver, with rumors swirling that the team is targeting one of the biggest names in motorsports for its vacant seat.
While the team has yet to confirm any specific targets, speculation is already rampant that Red Bull may be eyeing former Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton or McLaren’s Lando Norris to fill the void left by Perez.
“We are thrilled to have secured this deal for Sergio Perez,” said Red Bull team principal Christian Horner in a statement.
Regardless of who eventually replaces Perez in the Red Bull lineup, the corporation will face significant challenges in filling the void left by the Mexican driver, who has been a key contributor to the company’s success in recent years.
“Sergio Perez was a fan favorite and a key member of our team,” said Red Bull technical director Adrian Newey. “His contributions to our success will not be forgotten, and we wish him the best of luck in the future.”
