DONE DEAL: Pittsburgh Steelers officially confirmed the signing of a fantastic NFL linebacker.
Despite not completing the deal everyone was hoping for, the Steelers did make a roster change on Wednesday morning, signing linebacker Easton Gibbs, according to NFL source Aaron Wilson.
In a related move, the Steelers waived/injured linebacker Tyler Murray. Murray had a solid camp, but a groin injury on Tuesday ended his chances of making the roster.
Gibbs, the Steelers’ newest player, was undrafted this year out of Wyoming. In 2023, the 6’2, 227-pound defender made 109 total tackles, four for loss, two sacks, and one interception. Gibbs signed with the Seattle Seahawks after the draft, although he began camp on the Non-Football Injury list.
He passed his physical on July 25 but was later released. Gibbs now joins the Steelers’ inside linebacker room, where he hopes to make an impression during the preseason. He’ll be aboard a moving train as the club prepares for its first game of 2024 on August 9 against the Texans.
