Red Bull Racing held a crucial meeting today to discuss the future of their star driver Sergio Perez, as the team evaluates the Mexican driver’s recent lackluster performances on the track.

The meeting comes after Perez’s disappointing results in recent races, which have seen him finish outside of the top six in nine consecutive races, a stark contrast to the high expectations and aspirations of the Red Bull team.

Team principal Christian Horner was reported to have expressed concerns about Perez’s lack of consistency and competitiveness, stating that the team “needs to see better results and a more focused approach” from the driver.

In reaction to the criticism, Perez publicly admitted his recent troubles and pledged to improve his track performance.BREAKING: Red Bull  held a crucial meeting which Sergio Perez’s future is  the agenda, "his results is not what we expected.

“I understand that the team is expecting more from me, and I’m committed to working hard and doing everything I can to get back to the level of performance that they expect,” Perez told reporters.

Despite Perez’s promises, there is talk in the paddock that the Red Bull team is investigating alternatives for the 2017 season, with names like Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon being mentioned as possible replacements.

Meanwhile, news of Red Bull’s meeting with Perez has prompted a broader debate about the extreme pressure and scrutiny that drivers endure in the highly competitive world of Formula 1.

Some observers have attributed the role to Red Bull’s intense team culture and the high demands of team chief Horner, who is known for his no-nonsense style to managing drivers.

“Horner is a tough taskmaster, and he expects nothing short of excellence from his drivers,” stated Sky Sports F1 pundit David Croft.
