PIGEON FORGE, TN – The much-anticipated Pigeon Forge Fall Rod Run 2024, originally scheduled for September 12–13, has been canceled following unexpected events that occurred on Monday. This decision has sent shockwaves through the automotive community and the local economy, which heavily benefits from the influx of tourists during the annual event.

On Monday, an unforeseen incident at the LeConte Center, the primary venue for the Rod Run, forced organizers to reevaluate the safety and feasibility of hosting the event. Although details of the incident remain under investigation, early reports suggest structural concerns that pose significant risks to the public. City officials, along with event organizers, made the difficult decision to prioritize public safety over the anticipated festivities.

The Pigeon Forge Fall Rod Run has been a staple event for the region, drawing thousands of classic car enthusiasts, vendors, and spectators from across the country. The cancellation marks a significant blow to the local economy, which relies on the event to boost business for hotels, restaurants, and local shops.

Local business owner, Jane Peterson, who runs a small diner near the LeConte Center, expressed her disappointment: “The Rod Run is our busiest time of the year. We prepare months in advance, hire extra staff, and stock up on supplies. This news is devastating for us.”

Rod Run organizer, Mike Thompson, shared his thoughts on the cancellation: “This was not an easy decision to make. We understand the importance of the Rod Run to our community and the classic car enthusiasts who attend every year. However, the safety of our attendees must come first. We are working closely with the city to address the issues and explore possible future dates or alternative locations.”

Reactions from the Rod Run’s dedicated fan base have been mixed. Many understand the necessity of the decision but are nonetheless disappointed. Lisa Jenkins, a regular attendee, commented, “I’ve been coming to the Fall Rod Run for the past ten years. It’s like a family reunion for us car lovers. It’s heartbreaking that we won’t be able to gather this year.”

Social media platforms have been flooded with comments from disappointed fans and vendors, many of whom had already made travel arrangements. Some have expressed frustration over the timing of the announcement, while others are offering support and understanding, recognizing the complexities involved in ensuring a safe event.

City officials and event organizers are already in discussions about the future of the Fall Rod Run. Mayor David Wear emphasized the city’s commitment to the event: “We are deeply committed to ensuring the tradition of the Pigeon Forge Rod Run continues. Our team is exploring all options to address the current situation and make improvements for future events.”

While the cancellation of the 2024 Fall Rod Run is a significant setback, the spirit of the event remains strong. Organizers, vendors, and attendees alike are hopeful that with proper planning and safety measures, the Rod Run will return better than ever, continuing to be a cherished tradition in Pigeon Forge for years to come.
