South Carolina has officially signed its largest recruit in the Class of 2025.

On Thursday, four-star wide receiver Lex Cyrus selected South Carolina over Penn State, his alma mater. Cyrus, a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native, had reduced his recruitment to South Carolina and Penn State earlier this week before surprising many with his decision to attend USC.

Less than an hour before his commitment, 247Sports projected he was heading to Happy Valley. On3 Sports gave the Nittany Lions a 94% chance of landing him.

But in front of his family and friends at Susquehanna Township High, he chose to leave his home state for the Gamecocks, unzipping his sweatshirt to reveal a white South Carolina t-shirt.

When asked why he chose South Carolina after his commitment on the On3 Recruits YouTube channel, Cyrus stated that after visiting campus and speaking with the coaches and players, “it just felt like the most comfortable place and a place I wanted to be.” Cyrus, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound pass catcher, is regarded as the No. 250 player in America, the No. 35 wide receiver in the country, and the ninth-ranked player in Pennsylvania.FINALLY: He selected USC over Penn State: What to know about 4-star receiver Lex Cyrus.

Last season as a junior, Cyrus caught 67 catches for over 1,100 yards and 13 touchdowns.

“(I’ll be) coming in ready to work, ready to show what I can do in the SEC,” Cyrus said.

Against the norm, Cyrus has not been all over the place on the recruiting trail. He took just two official visits: to Penn State the last weekend in May and to South Carolina a week later.

Cyrus, known for his quickness, won the 3A Pennsylvania state championship in the 100 meters as a sophomore and finished third last year. He isn’t quite at Nyck Harbor level, but he has personal bests of 10.41 seconds in the 100m and 21.64 in the 200m.
