BREAKING NEWS: Milan rewarded the center back on his return from loan by offering him a multi-year agreement.

Milan intends to compensate the center by giving him a multi-year extension.

According to a source, AC Milan want to thank Matteo Gabbia for his contributions since he returned from loan by extending his contract. In an attempt to give Gabbia additional playing time, the decision was made to loan him to Villarreal last summer. However, due to an injury crisis that hampered the center-back unit, Gabbia was called back in January.

He was nearly immediately thrown into the starting lineup, and the reception was excellent. The Milan Primavera graduate proved to be a dependable back-up for the defense, and in the second part of the season, he would actually make eighteen appearances in Serie A. Journalist Alessandro Jacobone of X claims that Gabbia and Milan are nearing an agreement to extend his contract by a further four years, or until the summer of 2028.

It is a well-deserved deal for someone who has won the management’s trust, but no more information is provided, such as when the signature may be anticipated or what will happen with the defender’s pay.

Although there is now no great urgency about the deadline—June 2026 is the expiration date of his current contract—the directors have demonstrated a greater willingness to act sooner rather than later than their predecessors.
