Newcastle believes the 19-year-old has a bright future on Tyneside, and Eddie Howe is one of his biggest supporters.
Amadou Diallo, on the other hand, saw some time off the bench, although the Shields Gazette has reported that he will be released this summer when his contract expires. But following Wednesday’s game in Australia, Garang Kuol was the one kid that all Toon fans could not stop talking about. He arrived from Central Coast Mariners in January 2023 and made his debut for Newcastle United following two incredibly difficult loan stints. With much fanfare, he brought in £300,000, but his debut in black and white was far from spectacular.
The 19-year-old was ordered to play up front during a period when Newcastle’s young team was struggling to control the ball, so Kuol hardly received a kick. The Australian international was unable to participate, but he was still able to score in the shootout victory.
Potential outcomes for Garang Kuol at Newcastle United Kuol will next play Newcastle in their second match in Australia on Friday against the A-League All Stars. Eddie Howe is expected to select a much younger team for the match at Marvel Stadium, therefore the teenager will be hoping to make another appearance.
It’s unknown what Kuol’s long-term prospects are. The teenager’s transfer to Newcastle United has not gone as expected; following loan stints at Hearts and Volendam, he has not really demonstrated any signs of growth. Furthermore, Eddie Howe doesn’t think Kuol is quite ready for the starting lineup, according to the Athletic. They even say he might be sold.

Eddie Howe was questioned about Kuol’s future by Fox Sports after his very first game wearing a Newcastle United shirt. There is still a long way to go before the season begins, so it’s always tough to predict with certainty what will happen with a player at this point, he said.
But it might be necessary for him to have another loan spell. He’s already had a few loan spells, so I believe he needs this one to go well. “Hopefully, that will happen. I think he needs the next one to be successful and we need him to play more game time.”
Newcastle needs to stick with the Australian wonderkid. Selling Kuol feels like a drastic step too soon, and Newcastle is not likely to make that choice. It is possible, though, as Newcastle is amenable to any strategy that would boost its earnings. Yankuba Minteh is far more near to becoming Premier League ready than Kuol, and there have even been rumors that he might be traded.
Newcastle needs to be persistent with the young Socceroo. His potential led to his signing, but he won’t materialize quickly. He has hardly any senior experience and is still only 19 years old. Lewis Hall, who joined the team last year and has just recently shown improvements, may be compared. Even though he was a superior player than Kuol when he joined the team, he has had the advantage of collaborating with Howe the entire campaign. Kuol appears to be better off taking another loan move, but considering how the last two stints have gone, this will not be an easy choice to make.
