According to Kevin Van Vulkenburg of No Laying Up, Jefferson County prosecutors will apparently drop the charges against Scottie Scheffler. Scheffler, 27, was stopped by police near Valhalla Golf Club after misinterpreting the traffic flow situation following a deadly crash in the early hours of Friday.

Shocking footage showed the World No. 1 being frog-marched to the rear of a police vehicle. An ESPN reporter documented Scheffler’s arrest in real time.

Scheffler was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, careless driving, and failure to obey traffic signals from an officer.

However, according to No Laying Up’s Van Valkenburg, the accusations against Scheffler are expected to be withdrawn during the USPGA Championship.

Scheffler’s case for having his assault charges dropped was reinforced yesterday when it was revealed that the officer who apprehended him was either not wearing body cameras or did not have them switched on.

That was according to Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, who told WDRB News. “We did not have any [footage], to my knowledge,” Greenberg told the television channel. Greenberg continued, “We have not discovered any video of the initial contact between officer Gillis and Mr. Scheffler.” Scheffler was supposed to be arraigned next Tuesday following the end of the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club. Scheffler fell back into the pack with a third-round 73, after pushing into tournament contention with a second-round 66.

That was Scheffler’s first round over par since August 2023. Scheffler trailed by eight strokes into the final day of a hectic week for the World No.1.
