Milan has planned a €17.5 million ‘Plan B’ in case they do not secure Zirkzee.
AC Milan has named Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy as their next target if they are unable to sign Joshiua Zirkzee from Bologna this summer. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan), the Rossoneri have a low-cost option whether Zirkzee decides to stay with Bologna or move on to another team.
There is little doubt that Zirkzee is Milan’s top candidate to replace the departing Olivier Giroud, but a number of other European clubs are also interested in him, and Milan must prepare for the possibility that he will become unavailable. It appears that Milan’s next move will be to spend significantly less money than the €60 million that Zirkzee is expected to cost and sign Stuttgart’s Guirassy.
The 28-year-old has been in outstanding form this season and might be available for just €17.5 million thanks to his release clause, which Stuttgart are undoubtedly now regretting. He has 27 goals and two assists this season in all competitions, trailing just Harry Kane in the Bundesliga top-scorer race. He is not as long-term a choice as Zirkzee, but he is significantly less expensive.
