According to people familiar with the matter, “Milan evaluated Silva’s profile to strengthen their defence and also for his advantageous status as a free agent.”
However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who currently works as a senior advisor to Milan’s ownership, turned down the agreement due to age concerns.
Milan will now consider Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos as an option to Silva, who has made 24 Premier League appearances under Unai Emery this season.
As a result, Silva will not return to the San Siro, despite the Italian giants seriously considering the possibility.
