Thiago Silva is poised to depart Chelsea as a free agent at the conclusion of the season, and his representatives are working hard to find him a new club.

According to TEAMtalk sources, Fluminense is the most likely destination for the 39-year-old centre-back right now, but he is also considering staying in Europe, where he still commands huge respect in the game despite being regarded a senior citizen by his peers.

Silva joined Chelsea in 2020 and has made 151 appearances in total, helping the club win three major championships.

The defender’s departure will leave a void in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad which the Argentine will undoubtedly look to fill in the coming months.

TEAMtalk understands that Silva is evaluating his options with his family – very much settled in London  – open to potentially remaining in Europe, though everything suggests that he will return to Brazil once the current campaign draws to a close.

In recent weeks, many clubs have expressed interest in the Chelsea player, including Orlando City of the MLS, Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia, and those in the Premier League.

TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that AC Milan, Silva’s former club, is mulling a surprise bid to re-sign the experienced defender.

Silva played three excellent years with Milan from 2009 to 2012, winning the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia. He remains a tremendously popular character, with many supporters grieving the decision to allow the 113-times capped Brazil player to leave.

Given Simon Kjaer and Mattia Caldara’s impending departures, the Rossoneri are hoping to sign a new centre-back this summer.

According to people familiar with the matter, “Milan evaluated Silva’s profile to strengthen their defence and also for his advantageous status as a free agent.”

However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who currently works as a senior advisor to Milan’s ownership, turned down the agreement due to age concerns.

Milan will now consider Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos as an option to Silva, who has made 24 Premier League appearances under Unai Emery this season.REPORT: AC Milan attempts to sign Chelsea's star player, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic refuses.

As a result, Silva will not return to the San Siro, despite the Italian giants seriously considering the possibility.

The veteran centre-back will make a final choice on his future soon, and as previously said, Fluminense remain favourites to sign him.
