Tottenham enters the race for Torino’s star, but Milan prefers a player-plus-cash deal.

Tottenham Hotspur have showed interest in Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno, but AC Milan has other plans.

According to Calciomercato.com, Buongiorno is expected to depart Torino this summer after being subjected to intense speculation last summer and during the January transfer window. He previously considered joining Atalanta and was pursued by Napoli in January. They offered €25 million and Leo Ostigard for the Italian defender, but Torino president Urbano Cairo declined, estimating that Buongiorno will fetch roughly €35 million.

The arrival of a Premier League team may lead Buongiorno’s price to climb, and Torino is notorious for driving a hard bargain, but Milan remains intrigued and has a plan to secure a deal before Tottenham.

Torino had previously expressed interest in signing Milan forward Lorenzo Colombo, who is currently on loan at Monza. Milan is anticipated to use him as a negotiation chip at some time this summer, and there is logic in utilizing him with Torino. Buongiorno appeared to be on the verge of leaving Torino for Milan in January, but a catastrophic injury forced him to remain in Turin.
