JUST NOW: Adli sends a warning to Milan management following the derby loss.
Yacine Adli certainly came out following AC Milan‘s derby loss to Inter last night, implying that the ownership must invest in stronger players to win today.
Milan lost 2-1 to Inter in the Derby della Madonnina at San Siro on Monday night, but they won their 20th league title.
As is customary in these games, the Rossoneri got off to a bad start when Francesco Acerbi scored from a corner, and Marcus Thuram doubled the lead with a drive from the edge of the box early in the second half.
Fikayo Tomori’s late close-range finish cut the lead in half, but Milan received what they deserved following another dubious defensive display.
After the game, Adli spoke with SportMediaset to reflect on his team’s dismal night, and Calciomercato.com repeated his comments.
What are your emotions?
“It burns a lot. Today was more than simply a derby; we knew Inter could win the Scudetto, and we wanted to satisfy our fans, whom we had disappointed so much this season. Words are insufficient to express how I feel within.
“Frustration? Even more. We cannot always be clean and act rationally. There were a lot of emotions today. I made that motion [kicking stuff on the bench] when I got off because it was more than just frustration.
“It’s disappointing for all those who supported us. They travel long distances for us. It will remain within me for a long time.”
Is there any difference between the two projects?
“We and Inter are two separate teams. Inter has had a project for four or five years, they play the same manner, and they have players who have been here a long time. A crew that is mature and experienced. We are a squad that has altered ten players. A year is full with possibilities.
“Our project is lengthier, but we need to accomplish a lot more. If the club wants to win, it must have a strong team and players. I will strive to improve every day in training and to provide more. Because simply stating that we are young and on a lengthy trip is insufficient. “We must act every day.”
What about the rumours surrounding Pioli?
“We are always focused on the pitch, we try to give everything. Today it wasn’t enough. For our fans we are more than disappointed.”
