Milan is poised to fire Stefano Pioli in the summer.
Milan are expected to fire manager Stefano Pioli at the end of the season, with the Italian’s time at the club coming to an end in a matter of weeks.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TMW), Pioli’s future at the club appears to be more guaranteed than ever. After experiencing difficulties earlier in the season, the loss to Inter has only confirmed the club’s belief that Pioli can no longer lead Milan ahead. Major concerns arose with the Europa League elimination, but it now appears that Pioli will leave at the conclusion of the season.
Names of potential replacements are already being bandied around. Paulo Fonseca and Julen Lopetegui are two likely candidates. Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier and former River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo are options, but both have lucrative contracts with Middle Eastern clubs, complicating matters.
