GREAT NEWS: South Carolina Basketball, Future Gamecocks make major rise in recruiting rankings.
Trent Noah, a South Carolina basketball pledge, jumped significantly in the most recent 247Sports recruiting rankings. After far too long being underrated, the sharpshooting wing is suddenly regarded as a 4-star prospect, rising 38 spots to #105 nationally in 247Sports’ most recent composite player rankings.
Noah’s promotion is overdue and well-deserved. As one of the top shooters in the country this past high school season, he led his Harlan County team to their first-ever berth in the state championship game in Kentucky’s “Sweet Sixteen.”
Noah is well-known for his ability to rise and knock down jumpers, but he is more than just a shooter. At 6’5″/6’6″ and 200 pounds, he has the size to play as a wing in the SEC, and he has a good floor game that should allow him to be a great pump-and-drive player. Throughout his high school career, the All-State performer demonstrated a strong ability to finish near the basket, and he isn’t hesitant to go for a big dunk in traffic.
Noah’s positional versatility is also a strength, as he can play the 2 or 3 positions with ease, and his comfort with the ball in his hands allows him to serve as a secondary ballhandler in certain lines if necessary. Noah’s better-than-advertised athleticism and strong positional size should provide head coach Lamont Paris with a beautiful canvas to work with defensively, thus if he adjusts well to the college game, there is a decent chance he will play for the 2024-2025 Gamecocks.
Noah’s new 4-star ranking means that all three South Carolina basketball commits in the 2024 class are rated as 4-star prospects by at least one major basketball recruiting website. Cam Scott of South Carolina and Finnish forward Okku Federiko join Noah in the top recruiting class (according to 247Sports’ composite rankings) since 2010.
