Newcastle is set to offer “unbelievable” star new deal right after Joelinton’s.
Newcastle United are preparing to begin discussions with another “unbelievable” player about a new contract at St James’ Park after Joelinton confirmed his future with the club over the weekend.
Newcastle may lose key players amid FFP concerns.
The Magpies will undoubtedly add to their squad during the summer transfer window, but it would be surprising if they still had all of their key players at the club come the start of next season, with Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules certain to play a role in their planning for the new season.
Bruno Guimaraes stands out as a player who could leave in the summer, with Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain allegedly interested in signing him. There is still optimism that he would stay, but with CEO Darren Eales admitting the need to sell-to-buy, the Magpies’ top player would undoubtedly earn a lot of money.
has been linked with a move away from Newcastle at the end of the season, with the Englishman expected to leave in January but ultimately staying at St James’ for the time being. Bayern Munich apparently sought him, but the transfer fell through.
Miguel Almiron, who has battled to establish himself as a starter this season, appears to be on his way out in the summer. Given his position in the pecking order, the Magpies appear to be willing to let him go.
“Unbelievable” Newcastle ace may sign new deal
According to Football Insider, Newcastle are preparing to start negotiations with Trippier about an extension, hoping to hold him down to a new contract rather than move him.
Despite his age of 33, it is “highly likely” that the defender will be offered a new contract by the Magpies, who consider him as an essential player in the future.
This is fantastic news for Newcastle, despite of Trippier’s age, as the right-back has been a key figure since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2022. Alan Shearer, a Newcastle United star, has always admired him, noting earlier this season, “Some of the balls he was putting into the box were just unbelievable.” He’s been a fantastic purchase for Newcastle, and he’s in top form.”
Admittedly, Newcastle could still do with signing another full-back, but with Tino Livramento emerging as a strong option already, the left side looks in more urgent need of repair.
Trippier still has enough in the tank to be a significant player for Eddie Howe for the next few years, and while this season hasn’t gone as planned for him or the team, he is permitted a minor fall in form and fitness, which could lead to more natural rotation with Livramento next season.
