Newcastle United may sanction the departure of a “unique” St James’ Park hero during the summer transfer window, according to a vital update on his future.

Newcastle Transfer News

The Magpies won 4-0 at home against Tottenham on Saturday, moving them up to sixth position in the Premier League ahead of what should be a successful season finale. Regardless of what happens in the final weeks of the season, a number of fresh acquisitions are required in the summer, along with increased depth.

Newcastle have been linked with a transfer for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who is regarded as a potential replacement for Martin Dubravka. Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsdale is rumored to be joining from Arsenal, putting Nick Pope under pressure in goal.

Manu Kone, a Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, has also emerged as a potential target for Eddie Howe, with the Magpies viewed as unlikely possibilities to sign him in the coming months. The 22-year-old has had a decent season in the Bundesliga, starting 15 games and making 1.8 tackles per game.

Newcastle are also rumored to be interested in signing Billy Gilmour, a Scotland international who is now at Brighton and proving to be an excellent midfielder.

This summer might also see a number of prominent stars leave St James’ Park, and there has been an update on one such player.

Newcastle plans to accept Almiron’s offer.

According to a new Football Insider report, Newcastle could be willing to trade Miguel Almiron this summer after failing to finalize a move to Saudi Arabia during the January transfer window.

The report says that the Paraguayan “could leave” the Magpies at the end of the season, and “clubs are expected to look at the forward as a potential target”. Newcastle are actually “set to accept an appropriate offer”, it is added.

This summer seems like the obvious time to conclude Almiron’s stay at Newcastle, as the wide attacker is now 30 years old and perhaps no longer the force he once was. That is evidenced by a tally of only three goals in 29 Premier League appearances this season, compared to 11 in the division last season.

The £60,000-a-week forward has nonetheless been a good servant overall, scoring 30 goals and being complimented by Howe earlier this season, with the Magpies boss saying:REPORT: Bye-bye: Newcastle to accept deal to sell "unique" £60,000-per-week player.

“He (Almiron) is a special footballer. I don’t think anyone is better at what he does – all energy and activity. I’d like to see his physical metrics today; I’m sure they’d be fantastic. The quality of his finish was reminiscent of several of his goals from last season. It’s a terrific return to form for Miggy, who is such a crucial player for us.
