Now, some details regarding a transfer Newcastle are ready to complete have emerged.
Newcastle have done something “quite interesting” with the Lewis Hall move.
Indeed, journalist Ben Jacobs reported this week that Newcastle might sign Lewis Hall from Chelsea on a permanent basis as early as this weekend, when the club could technically avoid relegation.
The defender has struggled for playing time this season, but has recently impressed Howe.
With £4m towards the £28m permanent deal reportedly already paid, Jacobs has suggested Newcastle may have actually structured the rest of the payment to come after the PSR cut-off, thus boosting what the club may be able to spend this summer.
In a video posted to YouTube, he said: “The other thing I’m told which is quite interesting in this is that Newcastle may have structured the deal to actually receive the player now but pay after the PSR cut-off, which would be far, far, far more beneficial for Newcastle than it would be for Chelsea.”
The Lewis Hall arrangement is becoming increasingly advantageous for Newcastle.
Starting to make an impact in recent weeks, this would be an excellent piece of business for the club if Jacobs is true.
It means they’ll have a player who’s already adjusting to life under Howe and has another season of experience under his belt, but they won’t have to pay for him just yet, allowing money to be spent elsewhere.
Hall is improving just in time.
